New Demo for Death Howl – A Soulslike Deck Builder – Arrives at Steam Next Fest

Experience the all-new demo starting June 9th

Warsaw, Poland - June 3rd, 2025 — Prepare to guide a grieving mother through a sorrowful spiritual realm as she searches for a way to bring back her child. Publisher 11 bit studios and developer The Outer Zone are launching a new demo for their soulslike deck builder, Death Howl, as part of Steam Next Fest. Death Howl is a unique fusion of two beloved genres and a passion project from the three-person Danish studio The Outer Zone. The Next Fest demo is available from June 9th to 16th, and Death Howl is set to launch later in 2025.

While the first demo introduced players to the beginning of Death Howl, this new demo picks up right after and lets players explore a brand-new region: the Creek of the Spectral Falls. A fresh biome means new cards to craft, new synergies to discover, and new tactics to master. The demo culminates in a challenging boss fight, as Ro confronts one of the Great Spirits.

Originally announced in January, Death Howl follows Ro, a hunter and mother, as she embarks on a journey full of love, loss, and the slow path toward acceptance. Set in a mysterious world of forgotten lore—where darkness whispers secrets and buried memories await—players build and refine their deck of cards while engaging in strategic, turn-based combat set on a tactical grid.

The second Death Howl demo will be available starting June 9th as part of Steam Next Fest.

Death Howl is set to release on PC later in 2025 and is supported by the Danish Film Institute - The Games Scheme.
