Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days Adds Zombified Survivors and Game-Changing “Curveballs” in First Early Access Update
WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND – May 28, 2025 – Following an Early Access launch on April 9, 2025 as one of the Steam’s top releases of the month, Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, the shelter survival game set in a zombie-infested Texas from PikPok, embraces the unpredictable in its first content update, now available on Steam.
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days’ Early Access Content Update #1 ratchets up the tension with new features aiming to keep even the most stalwart survivors on their toes. These new additions arrive alongside major gameplay balancing changes, adjustments, and fixes to various aspects of the game to ensure the pain goes down smoothly.
Early Access Update #1 Key Features and Content:
Curveballs: You didn't expect life in the zombie apocalypse to be predictable, did you? Curveballs are environmental and world events that affect shelters, either positively or negatively. Curveball events can occur at random or based on meeting certain conditions, depending on the district you're in, what survivors are in your shelter, and even specific dates. Stay on your toes!
Zombified Survivors: Not everyone will make it out of Walton alive. If a survivor is killed while out scavenging, there is now a chance you'll encounter them as a survivor upon returning to that location. We call them "Zurvivors," and it'd be a touching reunion if our former allies weren't hell-bent on biting us.
New Throwables: Sometimes you just need to throw something to blow off steam. The update introduces an expanded range of throwables. Toss Bricks to knock down enemies, Pebbles that can distract or lure individual zombies away from a group, and Pipe Bombs that explode immediately upon contact with an enemy or bounce off surfaces before going boom. Be careful with them: getting caught in the blast might just be worse than zombification.
Door Barging: Break on through to the other side. If you run at an unlocked door fast enough, you can crash right through it. The minor health loss and risk of an injury are a tradeoff if you need to make a quick escape.
New Starting Shelter: Settle down and start surviving at Stanton & Son's Meta, located in the lovely Seneca district. It's also available as a new scavenging location for all your deli needs.
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is available on Steam for $24.99. The Early Access Content Update #1 is available for all owners of the base game. For more information, wishlist the game on Steam, visit the official website, and follow the game on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, and Discord.
