Apogee’s ‘90s-Style Retro FPS “Wizordum” Conjures Episode 3 and 1.0 Launch Today
DALLAS - April 29, 2025 - Wizordum, the retro first-person spellcaster developed by Emberheart Games and published by Apogee Entertainment, exits early access and unleashes elemental fury with the launch of Episode 3 and 1.0 on PC via Steam today for $19.99 with a 15% launch discount until Tuesday, May 6th, 2025.
Embark on a perilous crusade to save the land of Terrabruma as one of the last remaining mages in Wizordum’s final act. Battle the Guardians of Chaos in an epic, spellbinding battle of good versus evil. Wield three new elemental weapons and hone wizarding prowess to survive the perils of six new levels.
“Wizordum falls into new territory: a modern retro fantasy FPS. It looks like a simple game at first glance, but the depth of gameplay, puzzles and content is striking, including complex levels that I’ve seen good players take two hours to complete…including me,” says Scott Miller, Founder and CEO of Apogee Entertainment. “This is not a game you can judge properly just from its trailers. Although this is a retro mimicking game, I doubt it could have been made in the early 90’s era it appears to come from.”
Prepare for frigid and boiling climates as two brand-new biomes pave the way to the doorstep of Chaos. Dodge falling icicles when navigating subterranean ice caverns and trekking across snow-blanketed towns. Traverse the Inferno Citadel’s lava pits while avoiding magma traps and walls of flame covering every corridor. Weave satisfying spellcasting and deft movement together as the mage’s journey crescendos in a battle to banish Chaos once and for all.
Master the mighty magic-infused Faewood Crossbow to slay devilish necromancers, fiery imps, ice golems, and frost goblins. Eliminate groups of foes by tossing poison vials to discharge clouds of toxic gas. Harness the mage’s full potential with the new Staff of Chaos, unleashing the indescribable power of ice, fire, and storm onto nearby enemies.
Wield the unholy power of the Grimoire, a spellbook forged in the forgotten shadows from the remnants of a fallen necromancer, seething with ancient, chaotic magic. A relic of darkness… now bound to your will — unleash devastating energy, obliterating anything foolish enough to stand before its might.
Uncover Terrabruma’s history by uncovering Lore Scrolls scattered throughout the realm. Experience enhanced versions of previous episodes with quality-of-life upgrades, and develop speedrun-friendly challenges or even full-length adventures with the versatile in-game level editor. Enjoy epic melodies in Wizordum’s original soundtrack featuring music composed by Tim Stoney, coming soon to all streaming platforms.
“Every step of our Wizordum journey has been massively fulfilling, and with the upcoming 1.0 launch, we’re eager to welcome new mages to confront Chaos,” said Primož Vovk, developer at Emberheart Games. “With new locations, weapons, and the conclusion of the epic story, we’ve succeeded in creating a fitting ending to our homage to fantasy shooters of the past.”
Wizordum Episode 3/1.0 is available today on PC via Steam for $19.99 with a 15% launch discount until Tuesday, May 6th, 2025. About Apogee Entertainment
Apogee is featured in John Romero’s new book, Doom Guy, along with Masters of Doom, the new FPS documentary, the book Shareware Heroes (2022 release), and many others – because Apogee was a critical player in the rise of the PC gaming, essentially creating the indie scene.
Apogee also funded, produced and published Id Software’s Wolfenstein 3D, the first ever FPS game, and also created pioneering games like Duke Nukem 3D, numerous Duke console games, Prey, Shadow Warrior, Rise of the Triad, and co-owned/co-created Max Payne 1 & 2. These games all earned over $1.5 billion commercially. (Apogee used the “3D Realms” label for many of these releases, but the company was always Apogee.)
The renamed Apogee Entertainment, with original founder Scott Miller still at the helm, continues to empower today’s incredibly talented indie developers. Apogee currently has nine other games currently in development.
