I'm not a particularly brave person, most horror games are a bit too sp00py for my tastes.
But I definitively can enjoy them, I've had extremely tense and fun chases (or, rather, escapes from whatever monster or hazard that wanted to kill me. ) and getting jumpscared can be quite fun at times. So yeah, I like them.
I'm far from being a horror game fan, I like complex storylines and beautiful/fascinating worlds, not cheap jumpscares and overall uneasyness.
The only games I've played that can be associated with the horror genre are the STALKER and Metro series, which are about a post-apocalyptic world with scary elements in the form of monsters created by nuclear radiation.
In terms of relation with the Bible, I don't see anything shocking in there: after all, it is a grim reminder of how doomed mankind could be if it tries to pose as God some day.
