picked this up for PSP at a pawn shop for $4, not very far into it but I'm getting my butt kicked a lot. Has anyone else played this?

Yes actually, I have definitely played it. (a lot o_O)
I am kinda a fan of the Final Fantasy Tactic games, with my first one being Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

This one certainly has a much darker tone than the FF Tactics Advance games, (and is certainly a lot more challenging.)
and I personally really disliked the death system, (In more ways then one.)
basically to the point where I would make sure to end battles within 3 turns of knocking someone out. (unless it's a monster fight.)
Granted that took a lot of extra grinding, but I didn't quite mind it much as I love the job system. ^-^
Even after I beat the game, I would load my save file that's before the point-of-no-return, and just create an ultimate army.
(Just in case I ever did some multi-player battles.)
I am not completely sure I want to know how many hours I put into this game. XD

Annnyways, where are you at right now?

It's pretty embarrassing when you get trounced by a small group of monsters... especially since I'm normally really good at JRPG's and Tactical RPG's

If you have it for the PSP make sure to look up the patch for it to help the serious loading issues. The effects, while very nice for it's time, do bog down the system quite a bit. This information is a bit late but I hadn't seen it suggested yet xD Also, THROW ROCKS, it's a great way of grinding.
