NVIDIA Shield

Realized we didn't have a thread for this. I've been entertaining the idea of getting this. Any non-Ninendo handheld piques my interest. Not that I really like portable gaming, but I have some latent jealously issues with Nintendo. Nothing serious, just psychology.
So, I have the Graphics Card and wireless router to properly support game streaming, and now that's it's gone down in price, it's been enticing. Just found out you can plug other usb controllers into it and run an hdmi cable to a TV. Also, it puts out 4K video, which I can finally use on my 4K tv, and I can pilot special AR Drones with it...

I'm not sure if any of you guys have it, but if you do, what do you think about it?

I suppose I've just been itching for a new toy. I've been eyeing the ouya and a chromebook just a little bit ago. I think I'd get the Shield before an Ouya.

The Ouya kinda died, unfortunately. There wasn't enough substance at launch to keep all of the eager kickstarters entertained, so it fell out of style.

Looked at a few reviews for the Shield. Looks pretty good. Not gonna say go for it, though; I know I'm missing some sort of crucial caveat here.

Okay back to the Shield,
I do say I find it pretty cool, not to mention I am a fan portable gaming.
Though my with my current set up, I would be handicapping it to the point where it's... well a handicapped PC.
I guess the biggest thing is... I'm not completely sure how PC gaming away from home works on that thing. XD

Though it sounds like you would have a lot of uses for it.

Yeah, although it seems to run most android games now and that's pretty good to me. As a Sega man, I have a certain appreciation for the underdog console, even if they are lacking in content. Probably much to my detriment.
But, given that the Shield could do pretty much whatever the Ouya can, but more and better, I'd shell out a bit more for it.

I'm pretty sure the shield can play Steam games and that's something the Ouya can't do. The Ouya is incredibly fun though and I would love to get either of them.

Well then, off topic post in the spoiler.

The game I mentioned is... Fire Emblem (:Blazing Sword),
the first Fire Emblem to hit the USA. (Which is why it's just called "Fire Emblem")
There are other Fire Emblems, but this one particularity I think you'd like.
It's a turn-based strategy game; the combat is actually similar to that of Civ 5,
however the levels/maps are mapped in squares and the combat is of course more in depth.
Hmm now that I think about it, it's somewhat like a Table Top RPG in a way.

Also, all of your units are all unique characters rather than generic soldiers,
and you can learn quite a lot about them through their conversations with other characters.
Though when a character dies in battle, they are removed from the game completely.
(Well, unless you start the battle all over of course.)

There are three story modes, Lyn's (which is pretty much the tutorial.)
Eliwood's (Which is the main story)
and Hector's (Which follows Eliwood's story, but focusing on Hector. (it's a bit harder.))
Then for when you want to put your tactics to the test, there is a hard mode for each story.
(With Hector's hard mode being the hardest. )

I can go on, from certain dialog to it's hidden story related secrets.
Though I don't want to over hype it, as it could be a hit or miss with you.

Although it's $20 on ebay, (and those hopefully are not bootlegs.)
But I suppose you have homebrew on your DS... does that include an emulator?

I mostly use homebrew for things I can't normally get on the DS, like emulators (I have Genesis), and some other homebrew apps.
