Since there isn't a place for card games, I figured this was the next best spot.
So, anyone check out Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars LCG? I only got into it just recently, and it's not bad. Weird, but not bad. Most of my CCG experience comes from Legend of the Five Rings, and since I sat out the current edition because it was butt and smelled like a pile of butts, the past year or so have been quiet for me.
For those not in the know, LCGs and CCGs differ in that, with the former, you don't purchase booster packs. There's no such thing as rarity. Small sets come out and, except in a few examples, they contain every card. This typically means that the financial investment is far lower than most CCGs. That's very appealing to me.
What's weird about this game is how you build a deck. In most CCGs yous picks yous card and yous plays yous deck. That's about it. ***Wow, "yous" is an actual word? Neat!***
The Game of Thrones LCG even follows this model for the most part. Star Wars, however, is built around 'pods.' Pods are a set of six cards: one objective and five other cards (personalities, equipment, events, whatever...). To build a deck you basically choose what objectives you want and take whatever cards are associated with that objective. So what do you do if you have an objective you really like, but the cards that come with it aren't that great (or visa versa)?
You suck it up, nancy boy. What do you think this, Magic: The Optimal Builds for Maximum Profits?
It's a little weird. Still, I'm enjoying it for no other reason that it's pretty inexpensive to get into. Buy yourself a core box (two if you want to play more than casually), a few Force packs, and you're off to the races.
Has anyone else checked it out?

If Star Wars: Destiny is a CCG, X-Wing is an LCG.
