I found this online table top gaming system and I was wondering if any of you guys would want to try using it for a campaign?

I never used it before, and I'm too junior to really tell how good it'll be, but it seems pretty great. At least from my eye, and compared to others.

The accounts are free, and we'd have to play in real time.

Haha, you'd be able to do a Family DnD night soon!

I'm planning on doing a family D&D later with my kids and some of the other kids from down the road. We're all looking forward to it.

I know that Roll20 is highly regarded by many others in the gaming community (it seems to be the tabletop of choice by the Kenzer and Co. crowd). I would be interested in playing if I was available (and if my computer can handle it), so it all depends on the time the game meets.

Cool, that's good to hear.

For all you DnD vets, any of you up for DM'ing, and how big would an ideal party be?

I'd be willing to run this. An ideal party would be 4 - 6 people.

EDIT: And, I don't mind staying up late to do it as certainly most of you guys are in earlier time zones than I am.

Cool, and I told you that I already picked up the first edition handbook, right?

Also, I'm willing to wake up earlier on the weekends for this, so, we'll see what time works for people.

I was thinking that GM updates can occur on a regular schedule, like once a day at a time when everyone's had a chance to respond. That way scheduling won't get in the way for people. It might mean an overall slower pace, but should at least keep things moving steady.

If it was that, wouldn't we just be doing it on the forums like the last one?

Maybe I misread what Roll20 did, but I thought they essentially created a virtual table to do the games over a video conference.

You didn't misread - that's what it does. There are quite a few sites out there right now that do it, but Roll20 is considered to be one of the better ones.

Although I wouldn't object to a forum-based campaign, either That would work better with a schedule, too. :)

Sorry I misunderstood. You're right, Arch.

Ok so I guess it's just a matter of setting up a time that everybody can work with.

I've created an account on roll20 and crated the campaign. I haven't added any content yet but it exists. It's called "When the Heroes Are Away." I'll start adding content so it'll be ready for whenever we decide to begin!

Edit: Did we ever decide on a system? Ideally I'd run 2nd Edition but I can do 3rd if that's the consensus. In a pinch, I can do 3.5 using the online resources we were using when Fathom was DMming.
