Judge me all you want, but today I read all of The Hunger Games in preparation for seeing the film, because I didn't want to see it without reading it first.

Reading Le Morte d'Arthur.
Wow, it's nothing like the movie. How dare the author take creative liberties.

The Mars Diaries, by Sigmund Brouwer.
Favorites of childhood. Reading them again, and I still love them. Sadly, I notice the sloppy writing now. Not any metaphysical attribute I can ignore as stupid, either. Just pure...laziness. O_O
He literally cut/pastes sections of the first book describing the robot/way it is controlled into all his other books (though at some point in the series, he quits that). It'd be OK if it was a sentence or a paragraph, but it's two--three pages of material that is exactly the same to the word.
Aside from that, good books. Interesting premise that...is actually sort of above a typical children's book. Sadly, I have lost book 10 somewhere, which climaxes the entire series (which is another odd thing for children's books, or at least the ones I read: each adventure is technically self contained, but it all links into a single cohesive novel).
So yay. I need to purchase the tenth book again (renamed into Robot Wars) to see if he removed the copypasta.

im in 9th grade and we were studying romeo and juliet i barely started the book so any ideas on it. its pretty disgusting as far as i can tell in the first scene alone they are talking about killing men and raping woman against walls... also we were assigned the lord of the flies which is a great book for understanding evil. I'm not done with it but i am reading it instead. both books are a little disturbing.

Many. They're college-level and above, however.so any ideas on it.
Don't touch The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer or Shakespeare's own Titus Andronicus, then. Don't even think about it. You won't sleep for a week.its pretty disgusting as far as i can tell in the first scene alone they are talking about killing men and raping woman against walls...
You thought a book involving children creating a ritualistic, brutal society on their own was less disgusting than one of the greatest love stories of all time?also we were assigned the lord of the flies which is a great book for understanding evil. I'm not done with it but i am reading it instead. both books are a little disturbing.
I don't even.

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

Oh, I didn't even think of biting my tongue.
The book I'm reading is Outer Dark by Cormac McCarthy.
This one... could be called disturbing.
Basically, this guy takes his son - born by his sister - and leaves it in the woods. And then the sister finds out and sets off to find it. It's crazy.

Well... I mean... it's like saying you're old first and then young. Or dead first and then alive. Or that bugs are birds and birds are bugs. IT'S SCIENTIFICALLY WRONG. RESPECT THE SCIENCE.Chozon1 wrote:You guys act like it actually matters.
