I looked on their website and found the list of confirmed characters. They are:
Peach, Luigi, Pikmin & Olimar, Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Pit, and the newcomers, Mega Man, the Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer.
Only three new characters so far.

Sonic has to be in it. If not, then I will be sorely disappointed. As well as all the other people who love Smash Bros.

Wow, I am actually quite relieved Toon Link is in, (As I have grown to really like Toon Link's speed.)

Well, it makes sense. They have an HD version of Wind Waker on Wii U. What'd you expect?

You know what would be cool? Having Gomez from Fez get in as an assist trophy! Then he'd flip the stage around to make it harder to stay on. Not saying it's likely, but it would be pretty sweet.
