Customer firmware isn't technically a "hack", but it is going outside of the intended software usage of the device in an effort to root or jailbreak the device, so it technically does violate the EULA. That's not illegal, but it's a little more grey than just playing Me & My Katamari until all hours of the morning.And you are going to have a fun time trying to get that custom firmware onto a 3000.
