Discontinuing Soda for One Week

Postby ArcticFox » Mon Dec 31, 2018 9:16 pm

Today is day 5. I have not had a Pepsi since last Wednesday.

Day 1 was hard, made slightly harder by temptations popping up. On Thurdsay night my wife put a nice, cold, new, refreshing 20oz bottle of Pepsi next to my dinner plate. I moved it away and had water instead.

Day 3 the withdrawal started to really hit. I was grumpy, tired and had a headache.

Last night my daughter and her fiancee came over and we had pizza for dinner... and a big 2L bottle of Pepsi was on the table. I did not have a drop.

Today... I honestly do feel a little better. I haven't weighted myself since I started this so I don't know how much of a difference it has made, but I do feel a little more energetic and less fatigued.

Thank you... I really think it's helping.

Day 7. Still haven't had a Pepsi, though I was craving one hard last night.

So I thought the withdrawal was over after Saturday. I was wrong. I was comically, catastrophically, absurdly wrong.

All I want to do right now is sleep. My head hurts, I have zero energy and if anybody says anything to me that's annoying they may well go through the plate glass window behind me near my cubicle. I work on the 8th floor.

Keep at it. It will be hard but then it gets better, promise.

Have you shared your attempt with the family? Maybe they could not put it in front of you, if so!

Yeah my wife is on board, and also trying to make her own health changes. The problem is it's kind of a house of cards. She'd readily buy me a case of Pepsi if I asked her, because her love language is to do things to make me happy in the short term, she doesn't do tough love well. I admit I'm the same way. If she told me she REALLY wanted a giant milkshake or something, I'd go get her one.

On the upside, the other forum board I frequent has a personal trainer who had volunteered to coach some of us. He's already given me some tasks that must be effective, because I don't want to do it.

Thanks...

My D&D campaign restarts tonight. The temptation will spike...

Avoided the temptation last night. I did have one with dinner... since we're a couple days past my week long purge, but I didn't enjoy it like I used to. I know if I were to keep having more that would all come back, so that one's it for now.

Thanks guys. I did have a soda last night, but it was part of a comfort dinner my wife and I had because it's been a rough few days. I found that the enjoyment of the Pepsi wasn't what it was before, and I'm still not craving it.
