I picked up the Player's Handbook the other day (retails for $55. Phew!) and so far I'm liking what I see. They're trying to get back to the roots of what made D&D awesome. I've heard it described as a mix of 2nd and 3rd Edition, taking the best parts of both. So far, I can see that.

There is a free online version of both the Player's Handbook and the Dungeon Master's Guide here.

I've been looking at it, and I've been going back and forth whether or not it's worth getting the new books and upgrading my current 3.5 campaigns to 5e.

Any thoughts from current DMs? Worth upgrading? Any challenges?

I haven't finished reading the whole book yet but when I do I'll share a detailed review. For now I'll say that so far, it's a simpler, more elegant system and I'm digging it.
