I created an account as well, so whenever the game becomes public/joinable, I'm in.

Done.

I have no idea where I put my Second Edition stuff, though (I've got it somewhere....) As long as I can find rules online, though, I should be good.

So now the question becomes: When shall we do this?

I have a bi-weekly D&D game at my house that meets on Fridays... I could run this one on the alternating Fridays at whatever time works best for you guys. If bi-weekly isn't frequent enough, then we can do a Friday-Saturday-Friday-Saturday type of thing.

Every other week sounds like a good pace.

For working out schedules, how long would a round usually go?

I'd guess around 2 - 3 hours.

Cool, I'll talk with my wife to find a good time to fit this in.

I'm open to the idea of it. Since my wife has decided to be a part, I guess scheduling isn't quite as tricky... ;)

D&D 2nd edition rules you say? Is that right? Hmm. Been 20 years since I played that. ;)

Let this thread know where an online copy of the rulebooks might be... assuming that's legal and all that jazz.

I've found an online set of 2nd Edition rules from gobookee.net:

PDF online

Which I found doing this search on gobookee

Search

Kind of a boring read, but it's there. If there's interest, we could use the first session as simply a character generation session/crash course in 2nd Edition AD&D and start the actual story on the second session. There's also a nice variety of free character sheets available at Dragonsfoot

Does roll20 use online character sheets, and where would we get them?

How strict are you on character gen rolls?

(nothing worse than a mage with 11 int)

Does this system use IM chat for talking, or would we use skype?

Not that I know of, but I don't demand to see people's character sheets, so you are fine just printing one out and having it on the table in front of you.
IBJamon wrote: How strict are you on character gen rolls?
Not strict at all. The system we use in my games at home are roll 4d6, re-roll 1s, then drop the lowest die. Roll all your stats first, then place them where you want them. That way, you can use the really good scores where you need them.

This makes for some pretty good stat rolls, which will allow you to play whatever character class you choose. If you come up with a set of rolls that really just stink, then roll a new character. This is why rolling dice should be the very first step. (Believe it or not, the mathematical average roll of doing it this way isn't that much better than the straight 3d6 way. I once wrote a program to run the numbers and analyze it ;) )

It appears to have built-in video conferencing, but I haven't tried it out yet.

Cool, so I noticed you set the date for Friday, the 26th, at 4 pm (don't know if that's a placeholder, or whether it's EST or PST).

I can do Fridays, but 4:00 PM PST is too early, for, you know, work reasons. I can't do earlier than 6:00 PM PST/9:00 PM EST on Fridays.

yeah it's a placeholder. It wouldn't let me put just the date, so I put in 7PM just 'cause. Once we have more of a consensus on time I'll modify it appropriately.
