if your girlfriend thanks you for buying her food, things that are perfectly acceptable and encouraged to say include:

1. "You're so very welcome."
2. "I don't mind buying food for you at all because you're the best!!"
3. "I only do it because I care."

usually followed by some sort of goofy smile.

etc.

what I said:

"Oh, I'm just fattening you up for the apocalypse."
