Is this really all that necessary? Couldn't we just look at those wikipedia links ourselves if we were really that desperate to find Christian music in those genres?

When you posted your suggestion, I was thinking of more of a list of artists broken down by genre. We could add our own favorites or suggestions, with perhaps a little bit about why we like said artist or group, and perhaps links to YouTube videos.

For example, here's one of my favorites from Skillet. I really like this group because they have some pretty good guitar work, and half the group is comprised of women. It's unusual to find many rock groups where the number of women and men in a group is even - and even rarer when one of the women isn't the lead vocals.

Well, I just thought that I shouldn't keep such a huge list all to myself. The list even contains bands that people haven't heard in a while. Most of them I never heard of!

Like this one:

If you've never heard of Five Iron Frenzy until now, you need to put down everything and go listen to all of their work.

Neither Ashton Nyte nor The Awakening are on these lists, therefore they're invalid. <_<

Maybe they are still updating the list. Anyway, a band called Brandtson was on the list, but I heard them use the H-word on one of their songs. Maybe that's one of their old ones. Anybody know?

I would think that it depends on how the word is used. For example, The Newsboys have a song called "Boycott H***" (actually a remake of a song from DeGarmo & Key) and Striper's "To H*** With the Devil" also comes to mind. Yet both of those groups are undeniably Christian. (No, the songs themselves weren't censored... )

What is it with people and "profanity".

It's Anglo-Saxon, a perfectly valid part of language, and a good way to express yourself without killing or torturing anyone

Some people are just sensitive to certain words, that's all. Personally, I've been known to curse like a sailor (especially when really irritated - generally not in a casual setting)... but I never take the Lord's name in vain. He asked me not to, so I'll give Him that courtesy.

They said it like "How the H-word was I supposed to know?"
