I had a near miss with BIRT once when they were exploring options for doing what it does. Fortunately the end result was that it fell onto people above my pay grade to deal with.

You dodged a bullet. It was terrible. Buggy, inconsistent, and just hacky to the end.

They each have their own place, but all of my personal computers are laptops now. My two desktop units have been re-purposed to serve as my gaming club's website server and Minecraft server.

The servers aren't exactly cutting edge tech, so I needed them to run on a more lightweight operating system than Windows. Linux is also more secure anyway and more stable, so it was the perfect choice for the application.

As for what made me switch to laptops... Cost. My laptop was on sale and had better specs than the desktop I was using at the time, so I bought it for gaming. Later, my wife got a new laptop and I inherited her AlienWare so I use that for gaming now and my other laptop is Linux now.

Emph. I'ma need a compy for school, and I can't decide whether lappy or compy. It's going to be programmination, so either way I'ma need something with muscle. That in mind, compy would certainly be cheaper.

They're fun the first couple times... but if you've played one...

I'd never heard of him before now. I just went and read an article. Seems cool. I'm a hockey fan, not a basketball fan :D

So, I understand you are a fan of AD&D 2e. What's the difference between it and the later versions that makes you like it more?
