Dolly and I watched the Prelude to Axanar last night and that thing was flat awesome. It was also fun to recognize the actors as veteran Star Trek Actors...

And a certain familiar hull number on that heavy cruiser under construction...

I really liked Prelude to Axanar. Totally got excited on construction of the Constitution Class, and shoot, even the D7.

Them ships, federation and Klingon, just looked so nice, too.

I liked how the pre-Constitution class ships seemed to be a mix between the classic styling and the Abrams' style, but ultimately the Constitution class ships seem to be all classic.

Oh yeah, they did a great job melding, but looking like a legitimate Federation class cruiser. The Ares Class was one sharp puppy.

But man, with those downswept wrings, the Klingon Bird of Prey is one of the best looking ships of all time.

IIRC that was basically the same Klingon Bird-of-Prey that was used in Star Trek:Enterprise, wasn't it?

I don't know, the model seemed better here. The rear seemed different, too, but I liked it even better.

Also, how they framed the shots was a lot more dramatic. The camera slow moving behind the Bird of Prey gave it some really ominous vibes.

You know what really amazes me? Paramount goes out and spends $60M to make a substandard movie with poor pacing, an illogical plot and relies on absolutely average CG. Meanwhile, these fans go out and spend a few thousand dollars of their own money and come up with something infinitely more watchable...
