2008? Man, that's quite far back.
I'd say probably build a super team and face off against a weak team.

I really like doing fantasy draft with the modern updated rosters and play it on pro, however my brother does that on allmadden. He is SUPER good.

Anyways, I would recommend building up skill by playing all the game modes. Some of the best are skill drills, Superstar, Franchise mode, and simple exhibition.
Then, it's crazy fun to play with friends online! If anyone wants to play, pm me some time and we can set up a game! ;D

I love the mods for it. The only problem is they have tendency to mess up every mode but exhibition.

I played Madden 08 on Wii and liked it.
