Can't say if it's better since it's not out yet, but there should definitely be similarities between to the two.

I cant wait for this game, I have been playing the CIV games since the first one and have loved the series (so far the 4th was my favorite) This one adds in the totally new element of the aliens (similar to the barbarians but more dangerous and less immediately hostile) and a new level of Civilization. It will be awesome.

I played Civ III when I was ~13, and it totally went over my head. Coming to Civ V as a 20-something is such a lovely experience :3
