I just realized we don't have a thread for this game. Well, we should. It's a great game; an RTS on a 4X scope.

For any of who do play, what race do you prefer?
I'm pretty strongly Advent (Loyalist), but I've been trying out the Vasari and TEC lately.

I have it and love it. It's been a looong time since I played it last (probably has something to do with the loong game times). I like all 3 in their own way. I do remember liking the Vasari, though.

I see you got Rebellion. Cheryl wouldn't let me get it at the last Steam sale. I have the original (played and reviewed) + 1st expansion (which I haven't played yet).

Rebellion is great. I feel it filled up the game beautifully, not to mention how fun the Titans are. The Forbidden Worlds DLC adds some much needed new planet types.

Cheryl, next time Rebellion goes on sale, you should get two copies. :)
Nothing like Galactic Conquest to bring a family together. I try convincing my wife with that...

I think it's silly to buy games when you have a huge backlog....

It's definitely something else. I takes ages to get somewhere.

It paces a lot differently than the standard RTS.

An excellent RTS, and about the only one I can actually do well against my friends in. Although we did have bounties set by the 3 minute mark........ hmmmmm...... that might change things since i was the only one without a bounty.

Hey guys, I have a question about Sins of a Solar Empire. What do you guys like about it? I've seriously considered picking it up probably half a dozen times, but then I decide not to because i play the demo and I am either too overwhelmed by so many things in the research tree or the pace is so slow that I just can't keep myself in it. Mind you, I'm kind of an old school RTS player. I grew up on Warcraft 2, Age of Empires 2, the Supreme Commander series, the Starcraft series, Men of War, etc so I'm used to games that are a bit faster paced. I know there are a lot of cool mods in development for it around Star Wars, Star Trek, and Halo themes. What do you guys like about it? I found the demo limiting and wondered if I might change my mind if I had the full game.

Also would you suggest Trinity or Rebellion? Does Rebellion really add a lot more or is it just a facelift with a few bigger ships? Thanks

My friend got it for me, we played a 6 man game, every man for himself, and two friends set such high bounties on each other that they died to pirates after about 15 minutes. Leaving me to begin conquering before everyone rage quit.

Such a good game.

Get Rebellion and don't approach it like an RTS. It's a blend between 4X strategy and RTS, so be prepared for a big game. Save and come back.
