Fire Emblem

This has always been one of my favorite strategy series. Anybody else played these? Which one was your favorite?

I've loved all the games released in america so far, but my favorite by far is the 4th (which, alas, was never sold outside japan). It had absolutely massive maps, an interesting story, and a huge batch of characters. Oh, and they killed off your entire army halfway through the game >:D. Was not expecting that at all.

I have played a few of them in the past. I am not fond of death being permanent in the series. It handicaps the diversity of the game play, and makes leveling up some characters very difficult.

That was one of my favorite parts. It forces you to be carefull with your characters; you can't use the same strategies you would in another game. It also tends to make it a bit hard the first time through though

I totally agree that it is more difficult. I just am used to throwing a few characters at a boss to weaken him, and then finish him off with others. It made me a whole lot more careful. But it also limits the different strategies that can be used.

I agree with both of you.
I will never go to the next level till all my characters make it.
Even if it's the last boss.
(That makes it a bit harder and can be a pain.)

Yeah, the series is great, but I only played the two for GBA.

Yeah, the series is great, but I only played the two for GBA.
Especially if you played a level for like 30 minutes and then lose someone important.

Yeah, I can't stand losing a character, so I have to do a lot of resetting at times.

But I did like how in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, you can train with random battles,
instead of training in those dreaded arenas.
Well arenas aren't to bad as long as your very careful.
I manage to level my character to the max with
arenas in the first game, with out losing any one.

The only thing is, doing the tower levels to get the boss characters in your party,
in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, is that there to easy. (the monster have low levels)
Since you have to beat the game before you can get the characters from the tower levels.

Well, I never did get the DS game of Fire Emblem.
Is it any good? Does it have map battles for training?

I absolutely love Fire Emblem. I've played several of them, but I have to say Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn was my favorite. It was my first, and I love the diversity of classes, especially the laguz: the hawks are still my favorites. Plus, it had Haar, Stefan, and Shinon, my three favorite characters in the series. Not because of some amazing back story or anything, they're just that awesome.

I have only play two,
but those two were awesome!
The only thing is,
not many get out of Japan, I just hope the 3DS game comes out for USA.

I have only played Sacred Stones for the Game Boy Advance. It's a pretty long game especially when you start over a map every time one of you comrades dies.
