Slime Rancher!

This game falls in the adventure/farming/simulator category, but is very unique.
Here is a sample of features in Slime Rancher.
This game is about catching and caring for slimes found on the Far Far Range. After a player feeds a slime he/she gets a plort depending on the type of slime. Plots can be sold at the plort market for New Bucks. New Bucks can be used for building and upgrading corrals, gardens, etc. Pink slimes are the most common slimes, so their plorts are the least valuable. The Dry Reef is the first biome in the Far Far Range. The Dry Reef is home to pink, rock, tabby, and at night, phosphor slimes. Small carrot gardens, pogofruit trees, wild Hen Hens, and Roostros can be found here. Pink slimes will often eat the carrots and make a pink plort. If a different slime is nearby, they will eat the plort, combining their slime type with the plort type. Example: a Pink Slime makes a Pink Plort, a Tabby Slime eats the pink plort, turning into a Pink Tabby Largo. When fed, the Pink Tabby Largo will make 1 Pink Plort and 1 Tabby Plort. However, If the Pink Tabby Largo happens to eat a rock plort, the Pink Tabby Largo will turn into a bad Tarr slime. Tarr slimes will consume other slimes and anything else in it's path, turning unfortunate slimes into more Tarr slimes. The Tarr will also attack ranchers nearby. Ranchers can shoot Tarrs with water from a spring or throw them into the Slime Sea the get rid of them.

Here are some hazards from Slimes in Slime Rancher.
Hazards come in 6 forms. First, Hostile Tarr slimes attack ranchers and consume other slimes to make more Tarr.
Second, Hostile Pink Phosphor Largos spawn near the gate to the Moss Blanket at night. Third, Hostile Pink Rock Largos also spawn in a ravine with a bridge that leads to a work in progress area. Fourth, hostile Pink Boom Largos spawn in between the 2nd and 3rd sections of the Moss Blanket.
The fifth and sixth hazards fall in the "Rancher Risks" category die to the fact that the hazards come from ranch-able
slimes. Boom Slimes and Boom Largos explode every once and a while. Rock slimes and Rock Largos have a spiky crown that can hurt if a rock slime rolls into a player.
Those are the hazards from slimes on the Far Far Range.
A few slimes require special care and location to survive.
Phosphor slimes and Phosphor Largos cannot survive in sunlight, so they only spawn at night. To keep Phosphor slimes and Phosphor Largos a Rancher must buy the Grotto expansion and keep the Phosphors there or buy the Solar Shield upgrade on a corral and keep Phosphors in the shielded coral.
Puddle Slimes are one of the hardest slimes to keep, because they require a pond and they use water to make plorts.
Puddle Slimes and Puddle Plorts will evaporate it exposed to the sun if not in water. Luckily, Puddle Slimes make one of the most valuable plorts.

These are some of and hazards and features of Slime Rancher.

I don't know why I like it so much. Possibly because the slimes are really cute.

I have kinda lost interest in this game. The update team is not very big, so updates are slow. If I remember correctly, it advanced from version Alpha 0.2.4 to version Alpha 0.2.6 (I think) in 3 months. Very slow progress. It was fun while it lasted though.

Yeah, the game is not updated often. Only like 4 people develop it, and the updates are big.
