Re: The dangers of renouncing your faith

Yeah, the more you dive into the Bible, the more it makes sense on sooooo many different levels. All this talk about "contradictions" and the like just means you aren't looking into it enough, really, and I say that as someone who believed that 10+ years ago. I think this is sad but unfortunately ex...

Re: What is your opinion on videogame piracy?

In modern times I don't really see any moral excuse for it, for reasons enumerated by earlier posters. Back in the 80s and 90s I could POSSIBLY see it excused ONLY if you legitimately wanted to see if you liked a game, played it an hour or so to "demo" it, and then bought it or deleted it based on h...

Re: Last Game You Beat

I beat LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham on the PS3 a couple of days ago. REALLY fun game, as long as you love the fairly repetitive, easy, collect-a-thon LEGO formula (which I definitely do). Funny story, dozens of hours of content, lots of characters. I particularly like the Lantern worlds, which are m...

Re: Whatcha reading???

Now I'm reading "Target: Africa", by Obianuju Ekeocha. It talks about how many of the more "progressive" elements of Western society are trying to infiltrate and mess up African values and familes, with a lot of financial aid tied to pushing abortion, birth control, etc, without telling the families...

Re: "If it were that important, Jesus would have mentioned it..."

Yeah, I never got that either. Not to mention whenever homosexuality is mentioned in the OT, it is condemned in the strongest possible terms (I believe the word used against it is akin to "abomination"). And Jesus did not come to repeal the law but to fulfill it.

Also, Romans 1: 18-32.

Re: Whatcha reading???

I'm currently reading "Addicted to Outrage" by Glenn Beck. It's... definitely one of his weaker books (and I've read nearly all of them). Makes some great points about not immediately demonizing the other side of arguments, but sometimes he goes too far/ is too conciliatory and other times he just k...

Re: Last Game You Beat

I beat The Book on Unwritten Tales 2 on the PS3 (Platinumed it, too). A pretty solid, fairly funny puzzle adventure game, the kind where you combine inventory in weird ways to solve puzzles. I'm not sure what was up with all the pentagrams in the Magic School, though-- the magic used tends to be mor...

Re: Whatcha reading???

Now I'm reading "Truth Bombs: The Lies Conservatives Believe To Our Own Demise" by Steve Deace. Pulls no punches; really tough (yet truthful) book. Revival or bust, folks, revival or bust.

Re: Is "Theo" as a name blasphemous?

Also even if it is, it isn't the kid's fault. If it was intentional to be a mockery of God then God will deal with that. He'll also probably use it for good, and to further the Kingdom. He likes to work that way. In either case, the kid will have his own choices to make in life. :) Oh, I know that....

Re: Is "Theo" as a name blasphemous?

Good points, especially about the name "Jesus", I forgot about that one. (I've never known anyone personally that had that name, that's probably why.) Thanks for the advice, guys.

Is "Theo" as a name blasphemous?

Okay, I want to ask a question some may see as silly, but I searched and don't really see anything about this on the web. I had a nephew born two days ago-- happy day!-- but his parents (one of whom is an atheist, the other I would describe as either pagan or heretical Christian, depending upon how ...

Re: Last Game You Beat

I just finished Need for Speed: Rivals on the PS3. The "twist" for the game beyond the usual Need for Speed formula is that there's an equally-long campaign for the both the street racers and the cops. I rather liked playing as the cops for a change. Good car handling and map design and (mostly) rea...
