Re: People Leaving the LDS Over New Baptism Rules

I suppose my main question is has any other church taken a stance similar to this one? if so what was their theology behind it? Personally, I think my concern would come with the fact that while the gay parents are one thing, does the kid really understand any of this? If the kid wants to join a chu...

Re: Bloodborne

I realized I never did get around to this did I? lol

Well, I may still do so, cause now the new DLC, The Old Hunters, is coming out in two days. Will have to add this to my growing list of games I need to play in the coming months.

Re: Five Bible Verses You Need to Stop Misusing

I believe the When is it ok to judge people's faith thread in this forum is pretty much dedicated to how we apply Matthew 7:1.

Shall we hop over to that thread to continue this one further? :D

Re: Why Aren’t More Intellectuals Believers?

I'm still digging into this some more but here's an interesting study from Harvard University that reports that there is a stronger correlation between methods of thinking and processing and religious belief, as opposed to straight up intelligence: http://www.anth.uconn.edu/degree_programs/ecolevo/d...

Re: Why Aren’t More Intellectuals Believers?

Now something you said before was that belief != knowledge. That's interesting, because to me, everyone has beliefs, but having a belief does not mean that one arrived at that belief without any critical thought, questioning, or reflection. I think that is a stereotype rather than a fact. Faith is s...

Re: Why Aren’t More Intellectuals Believers?

I think I never said that. I said religion (not Christianity). It is an issue of semantics only. Christianity is a religion, so if you make an assertion that you believe is true of all religion, then it also applies to Christianity as well since Christianity is a type of religion. There are statist...

Re: Why Aren’t More Intellectuals Believers?

Oh boy, I think I see the error here, and that is the mistake of equating intelligence to intellectualism. They aren't the same thing. There are plenty of people who are not intellectuals that are very intelligent people. So it is one thing to challenge how one can be say an intellectual and a Chris...

Re: Why Aren’t More Intellectuals Believers?

There's no right way to talk to an "intellectual non-believer" (not ridiculing, just citing you with the quotes). If someone chooses to believe in science (which leaves no rational space for religion), nothing a believer says or does will change his/her opinion. Critically reflecting does in my hum...

Re: When, if Ever, is it Okay to Judge Someone's Faith?

"By their fruits you shall know them." What do their fruits look like? Set doctrine aside (unless it's really egregious) and look at what their life's testimony is. Can you see a love for Yeshua in it? If you can, leave them alone. 'John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Y...

Re: Which church should I attend?

(and I know I'm going to have to do a little work to get myself in a state where I can start visiting the Orthodox one), If it makes you feel any better I have an amusing story about my first time with that. I thought I had done all my homework at first, done enough research, so I decided to just g...

Re: Linkrealms, an Ultima Online throwback

I will say, graphics wise, its not exactly top of the line to say the least. It's better than UO at least but don't expect shiny graphics lol.

Still, I actually like this, kind of gives that old school charm cause the gameplay is fun.

Linkrealms, an Ultima Online throwback

OK so a buddy of mine convinced me to try it out, even though I never did play much of the original UO. I bought into the fall beta and I must say I am actually very impressed. I would say if you have played UO and liked it, you will love this MMO. Got more or less the same kinds of mechanics (thoug...

Re: Which church should I attend?

Thank you, Comotto. While I wish I could just link their website, that would be giving a VERY specific location. They are a parish of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, which I CAN link to. http://www.antiochian.org/ Ah nice! I myself am Orthodox and I am familiar with ...

Re: When, if Ever, is it Okay to Judge Someone's Faith?

One thing I forgot... Concerning how to tell the fruits of the spirit, that too depends on the four requirements of discernment I mentioned in my previous post. There are many counterfeit gifts masquerading as the true fruits of the Spirit and to the naked eye (or naked spiritual eye if you will) th...

Re: When, if Ever, is it Okay to Judge Someone's Faith?

Hello, I have not been on here for quite some time. How is everyone? I hadn't checked this in some time and I couldn't help but notice this. There are a few items to keep in mind when going about doing these things. First, as far as discernment goes, there are four things that are necessary to striv...
