Re: Last Game You Beat

I finished Geneforge 2 on the PC, an RPG indie game with mid-90s graphics and little sound/music but a solid story and good combat. Sometimes things got a bit TOO hard even on easy, but in generally I quite like this series am interested to see where it's going.

Re: Whatcha reading???

I'm reading "Nicolae", the third of the Left Behind books. This is the most interesting one so far, there aren't any "down" moments, it's a pretty fascinating book.

Re: Prayers for some Friends

As was now expected, he passed today. Pray especially hard for his wife Diana, and his youngest son who is a senior in high school and now has to deal with his dad dying in addition to all the usual stresses of transitioning from high school to college soon.

Re: Last Game You Beat

I recently finished Iron Brigade on the PC, a mixture of a 3rd-person shooter and tower defense where you play a mobile trench with mech legs and fire back and incoming hordes of alien-like mechanical lizards that are subservients of "The Broadcast". It's pretty absurd/funny, as is usual with a Doub...

Re: Prayers for some Friends

They lifted the sedatives, but he never woke up, so they took him to be scanned by an MRI machine. I don't know all the minor details, but there is... very little-to-no brain activity. He has been transferred to hospice, it's just a matter of days now. Please continue to keep this poor family (the W...

Prayers for some Friends

One of my parents' close friends, Dave West, was found by his wife collapsed in his house in the midst of repairing something (it had only been a few minutes since she had left him). He was helicoptered to the nearest large city and has been unconscious and heavily sedated since then. His heart stop...

Re: Longest Trip of My Life

WOW, yes, that is a big trip. I've never been outside the continental U.S. that I can remember, myself. (My parents took me to Canada once when I was like 4 but I obviously don't remember that.)

Stay safe!

Re: Last Game You Beat

I recently beat Deponia: Doomsday on PC, the fourth game in the trilogy (yes ,you read that right). It's a inventory-combining puzzle adventure game, like the others in the series, and almost the whole thing is basically a troll against those who didn't like the ending to the third one (the ending w...

Re: Whatcha reading???

Now I'm reading "End of Discussion" by Mary Katherine Ham and Guy Benson. It's about the increasing censorship of political opinions (particularly of those on the right) via the "outrage culture" today, with a good bit of humor mixed in for such a dreary subject. It's a good read.

Re: Last Game You Beat

Spent a couple of days playing/beating EAT THEM!, an indie game on the PS3 where you play a customizable super monster and smash things up Godzilla-style. Pretty fun, with the story poking fun at how bare bones its justification is, though the difficulty definitely goes up and down unpredictably. Al...

Re: Last Game You Beat

I just beat Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen on the PS3-- a medieval fantasy action-RPG. Pretty long game, took nearly 50 hours to complete. The combat/gameplay look is pretty solid, though the story ranges from nonsensical to shallow to just bizarre (the ending is almost anti-Christian, but due to the J...

Re: Whatcha reading???

Now I'm reading "The Politically Incorrect Guide to the American Revolution" by Larry Schweikart. A pretty interesting read, and dismisses some of the false narratives behind the Founding Fathers (they didn't start the revolution for their own financial interests-- beyond Benajmin Franklin, practica...

Re: Christian church gains membership in Syria

Yeah, I've heard a lot of Muslims are converting over in that part of the world. If I remember correctly, when the Muslim Brotherhood were executing those Coptic Christians at the seaside in that video a couple of years back, one of the people they had on their knees was an atheist. After seeing wha...

Re: Whatcha reading???

I'm reading "How to Be A Perfect Christian" by the Babylon Bee.

It is every bit as awesome and hilarious as it sounds.
