Re: 7 Sins The Church Ignores

This is my $0.02... certainly not an attack on any person in particular. But, after reading the article, I'm left SMH :( The author brings up a little truth, no doubt. We are to struggle against sin; God's grace is no license to unrighteousness. However, no Biblical solution was offered; it was just...

Wouldn't his face, be a face?
Oh, a game of rhetoric - how delightful! :D Wouldn't a face, on a male, be his face?

Re: Ask Whatshisface

what anime?
Well, we just finished Sword Art Online last night. Before that it was Steins;Gate (which is excellent!), and before that it was Ai Yori Aoshi. :D Maggie's actually wanting to do cosplay... but the closest place would be Portland, which is over 5 hours away.

Re: Millennials leaving church in droves, study finds

That, and there's also a growing tendency to encourage people to think that religion and science must necessarily be at odds, and that comes with a heaping helping of historical revisionism. Essentially, in the story of mankind, religion is being cast as the main villain. From the secular, that is ...

Re: Millennials leaving church in droves, study finds

When you say God's Word will never return void, are you making a reference to programming languages? No my friend, I've found that some people can feel like I'm trying to insult them if I just quote numerous Scriptures. So rather than straight up quote them proper, I try to paraphrase or integrate ...

Re: Ask Whatshisface

You're ridiculous Mr. Whathisface.. lol But I can say that cause I'm your wife. Haha, indeed. :D Awesome! Another husband/wife team! You guys game together? Yep. Although lately there hasn't been many decent couch co-op games. That has certainly put a damper on things. :? So we've been watching ani...

Re: Ask Whatshisface

How did you find us? I was hiding in the bushes, with camo paint on my face, keyboard in hand, awaiting the perfect moment to leap out and introduce myself. No, in all honesty I stumbled across your site via facebook. You know how it does the thing where it 'recommends' groups and stuff? ...

Re: Ask Whatshisface

The phrase itself means "simultaneously saint and sinner." The phrase was coined by Martin Luther to help describe the dual kind of existence of a believer's life. For a *good* explanation of it, here's a guy teaching sound theology while wearing an N7 hoodie. :D :D :D

Re: Ask Whatshisface

So you're not human? :P (Check out above your location next to your avatar) Well, it depends upon whom you ask. Stealing a line from the army, I've been known to proudly proclaim, especially to my wife, that I was not born but rather assembled at Fort Benning, GA... to date, she still doesn't belie...

Re: Ask Whatshisface

It is a joke within the family pertaining to doppelgangers, a particular writing teacher from my youth, and my poor ability to remember of the names of people I meet. I also find it to be a pretty funny name. :D

It is also a way of maintaining anonymity upon the interwebs.

Ask Whatshisface

Hey all, what a fun board! While perusing some of the other Ask the Members threads, I thought it might be fun to throw my own hat into this ring. So ask away, and if I do not know the answer (which may be often), I will find the answer. Also, to answer Todd Friel's recent question on Wretched (http...

Re: Millennials leaving church in droves, study finds

I see. :( My friend, without dragging this into a theology debate, you're incorrect on the "how." Remember that the Word of God will never return void, that it is sharper than any two edged sword, and that it's entirely sufficient for teaching, reproof, training in righteousness, etc. The problem is...

Re: Millennials leaving church in droves, study finds

You bring up an interesting point - thank you. Just to be clear, confessional Lutherans (i.e. the *non* liberal ones) *thrive* in paradoxes, like simul iustus et peccator. May well be a side effect of the "once saved, always saved" idea. So even if they were taught the proper lessons at the b...

Some encouragement from Acts.

"This Jesus, whom *we* crucified and who loves *you* anyway."

I saw this and thought I would share it here. I hope you may find it encouraging as Pastor Fisk walks through the Greek text of Acts 2:14-36. :D
