Re: Civilisation v

I really enjoy Civ IV, but the combat can be problematic. What's worse is that it's hard to play a pacifistic game on anything other than the easiest AI setting. Civ V does work to make the combat more interesting. I like the new system, in theory anyway. I'm hoping that the upcoming expansion (Gods...

Re: Last Game You Beat

Now I'm turning my attention towards Beneath A Steel Sky , another adventure game which has been released into the public domain, so it's free. Never played this one before but heard good things about it. I enjoyed BaSS very much. Just be glade of the pixelated graphics when you get to the surgery....

Re: Battlefield 3

Yeah, I'll probably be picking it up for PC too... eventually. Just so long as you can turn off the in-game dialog, like in BC2. 'Cause there's going to be a LOT of swearing in this one too, unfortunately.

Re: Brothers in Arms series

I played the demos for the first two. Seemed like a nice blend of action and tactical squad gameplay. Might pick them up some time. There was a fourth BiA announced at E3 this year: Furious 4. But it has NOTHING to do with any of the other BiA games. Instead they decided to make it into an over-the-...

Re: Tomb Raider "reimagined"

Yeah, I've gotta agree that it looked a bit linear. iirc at the end of it it said they'd be showing more of the open world. From what I understand there will be "hubs" that will be more open for exploration, while the main story parts between hubs will be more linear. I enjoyed Legend, and the Guar...

Re: Grand strategy games

Especially because I got fed up with Empire after a while with all the micromanaging everything across the entire globe so I quit for a while. Reading that Shogun 2 simplifies everything made me happyyy One of the things that I liked about Empire was that you could use towns to customize a region. ...

Re: Guild Wars 2

I agree that the Guardian looks good. Though there will be a part of me that will miss direct healing. Hopefully there will be enough support options that will allow for the same kind of team effort feel. I've been rather busy this last week or so. But if anyone wants to have a go at Hell's Precipic...

Re: Guild Wars 2

Ok, I think I can handle the Tanking with my Warrior. I'd also recommend a Ranger with Winter and Greater Conflagration and a Fire/Water Ele with AOE and Ward Against Harm. The Monks should also be able to deal with Burning.

Re: Guild Wars 2

I do have a Warrior that needs the mission and a Monk that needs the bonus. Just let me know if you want to have a go sometime.

Re: Grand strategy games

Hey, forgot to mention Knights of Honor. Great game, the concepts really worked in the end. Though a bit hard, the game seems to give a lot of detail on many aspects of the time period. War, diplomacy, economy etc feels realistic. I must confess that this game was very frustrating at first, expandi...

Re: Grand strategy games

I like a good Grand Strategy game every now and then. In fact, I just bought Medieval 2: TW and am playing with the Third Age: TW mod (Lord of the Rings themed). I've also played quite a bit of Empire: TW. Yeah, bugs, but still fun. One that I think has gotten overlooked a lot is Knights of Honor. I...

Re: Guild Wars 2

If any of you are Linux people you would have found the PCLinuxOS one VERY funny.

I liked the one on Linux Gamer that announced that Steam and Source now worked natively in Linux. They then linked to WINE. :P

This is probably my favorite April Fool this year. If for no other reason than the amount of effort that went into it.

Re: Guild Wars 2

I never played HL2 but I only heard bad things, so I don't know if I want to play it and ruin the first one. Bad things from whom? What kind of bad things? I've played through it at least three times and love it. It really is very similar to HL1, in a good way. Anyway, getting back to GW2; I'm real...
