Retro Gadgets Playground Lets Players Share Their Creations Later This Month

Bologna, Italy - September 4, 2025 | Bologna & Reykjavik-based Evil Licorice have announced a new free download Retro Gadgets Playground coming to PC (via Steam) on September 18. Retro Gadgets Playground allows players to go hands-on with the creations made by players in Retro Gadgets, the sandbox coding, gadget-tinkering hit.

Retro Gadgets launched into Early Access back in December 2022 and the teams have been hard at work adding more tools and creation options to early adopters. Players have created an incredible library of creations, from retro consoles to calculators, chiptune music player; really anything player coders can conjure up in their imaginations.

While Evil Licorice are hard at work work on a story mode for Retro Gadgets and launch version 1.0, more information will need to be shared at a later date. But the teams are excited to see players go hands-on with some of the imaginative creations in Retro Playground in just a few short weeks.

About Evil Licorice

Marco Bancale and Luca Marchetti have been friends since the '90s, dreaming of making video games together. They walked down different paths and independently founded two game studios: Licorice and Studio Evil. Over the years both studios went on to release successful titles such as Kingdom and Super Cane Magic ZERO. In late 2020, Marco came up with the stem for an unorthodox new game, Retro Gadgets, and instantly knew that Luca would have loved working on it. That's how Evil Licorice was born.
