Good answer. ;)

I based my "opinion" of their beliefs on several things. For one, their tendency to treat strange ideas as Biblically supported facts.

"King James Bible is the only true version"
"Debating is a sin akin to murder"
"Certain types of music are sinful and wrong"

etc.
In addition to that, they don't allow any discussion. Brother Randy treats that forum like the universe and he as it's god. If someone says something that doesn't go along with what he believes - he deletes it.

Now that is just scary. He's like a robot - programmed to believe one way, and only one way. That isn't Biblical either.

(ends long post before it turns into another chapter. 8O )

Good answer.

Anyone who seems to place themselves above God....

I have difficulty understanding people like that. My little brother can have tendencies in that direction, and it annoys me. But, on the other hand, I find myself constantly reevaluating what I believe. That doesn't mean it changes, but....

So, any more comments on that discussion, Laz?

And how much more do you have done on that chapter?

Well, I can understand it in a way. When all you've heard and read and been taught is a certain idea, it's very hard to change your mind about it.

Take global warming. I've always read that it's a scam and a joke made up by environmentalist nuts. I've always been convinced that that is[/]b what it was.

It would be very hard to change my mind on that subject - especially as the "evidence" in favor of the hypothesis seems to me to be very ... illogical.

Whereas Joe Gaia Mother Earth Environmentalist over there - whose mother married a tree and whose father ties himself to sequoias to stop loggers from cutting them down and whose aunt crusades in congress against drilling Alaska - he'd have a completely different viewpoint, most likely.

Now, I tend to question everything.

But once I decided to trust God, since I couldn't truly prove or disprove his existence, things happened. :? But I still find trusting him hard.

Trusting God can definitely be hard at times. I'm having a hard time myself, but if He has done all the things that He has done, why shouldn't we trust in Him? worry and fear can definitely get in the way (that's what it does to me).

That's just my opinion.

So when did you get saved, SigInt?

Trust has always been hard for me. And I learned a long time ago that trusting God doesn't mean that things are going to be easy in any way. I can't say that I expect them to ever get easier.

Well, you shouldn't expect bad things, because they'll come true. If you expect good things, they'll have the same outcome. God can do ANYTHING, we just have to trust and believe that He can. He helped my mom kick bulimia, and many other things.

I don't necessarily expect bad things, but I don't want to treat God as some type of cosmic vending machine either. And if me going through something now will do good in the long run, I guess I'm content with that. Though it hurts in the meantime.
