Game dev competitions sound cool. Of course, I don't know much about graphical development (I work mostly in the command-line). What's the C++ learning project? I've got C figured out (more or less), and a decent understanding of Java so C++ would be a good thing to add.

:? Now I feel stupid. Wish I knew this stuff.

Don't, SigInt. I hate computer programming about 95% of the time.

(Xian, the C++ learning project is a collaboration by some of the members where the ones learning it ask questions and post about their progress, and the others help them along)

On the other hand, it's just so darn cool watching the program you've created run, and see that little guy running around shooting ghosts in the dungeon...

Sorry - getting sucked back into a game I made. :|

It'd be nice if I could erase all knowledge of programming languages and fill my brain with something more useful. *sigh*

Programming and I have a love/hate relationship. Tedious programming and debugging gets frustrating, but I love creating (just about everything). So, to me, programming is like playing guitar, writing a story, or painting.

Is your entry in contest still around, Laz? What did you make it with?

Edit: By the way. Learning is simply a matter of, well... making yourself learn. If you want to learn, start with a more human-understandable language like Java (or PHP, but then you're really limited in what you can do). Python is actually a really nice way to start out in object-oriented programming, and, while I wouldn't recommend it for much in terms of real-world software, there's that "feel-good factor" that comes much quicker in Python than any other language. In other words, I was making and customizing a Space Invaders style game in just a couple of hours.

You can probably access it from the thread for the competition(though you probably wouldn't want to - Ereon made a much better entry. ;)). I made it with GM6.

Ooh, I just got a great song idea. :)

A great idea, huh, epsons? You're not going to tell us what it is?

Speaking of ideas... Is there any chance that you would be interested in adding some of your synthesized awesomeness to a rock song, epsons? I don't have a song ready for undergoing the awesomeness yet, but does that sound like something you might be interested in?

Programming...I can be an insane perfectionist, not to mention how annoyed I become if I can't figure something out within a few minutes.

And I'm still upset over my ACT score. :(

SigInt - you'd hate programming.

And I never cared much about test scores. ;)

Thanks. :?

The USMC recruiter just called. :D And my mom is already freaking.

lol - what I meant was that I don't think they mean as much as the system believes.

When my Mom freaks, it's usually a good time to head for the hills. :| Speaking of which, the parents are both freaking out right now because someone left some shovels outside.

I tell ya, this place is a real piece of work...

The Marine Corps, huh?

Could they put you on the fast track to the NSA? That will probably cause a bit of freaking out, won't it?

A bit? It would lend new meaning to the phrase "freak out", Xian.

Laz, you make me grateful for my parents.

And Xian, my dad's a former Marine, and he said that the agencies used to really want former Marine officers. Thought that they still did, but he wasn't sure. :D

I was planning to get a commission eventually....

Go for it, SigInt. ;)

You know, if one of my sisters wanted to join the NSA or USMC... my Dad would just about have a camel.(not a cow) 8O I can just see him locking them in the basement till they came to their senses. :x
