The most profound definition of "happiness" that I can come up with is "temporary contentment." Happiness is usually a short-lived state of enjoying what it is you have. Happiness can be the result of a lot of things, and should not be confused with the Biblical concept of joy.
Happiness is overrated and the pursuit of happiness is like chasing the wind.
In my sarcastic way of putting things: Happiness is one part deprivation, one part mania, and two parts adrenaline (or... feeling alive/powerful).
