Is it better to face death with a smile - or with fear?

No, I mean - what's the best way for a Christian to face death?

Considering that it means you're not stuck here anymore, I'd say with a smile. Heaven seems such a better place.

If I've got terminal cancer, and the doctor says I have 1 hour left to live - I'm laying there on my cot thinking..

"What if I believed something that was wrong?"

"What if I didn't repent of a certain sin?"

"What if there was some rule God wanted me to follow that I didn't?"

"What if I'm not really saved? What if I had to be baptized to go to heaven?"

Questions like that seem to prove to me what the answers are.

I don't think God would keep us out of heaven for not having been baptized or not following a commandment(unknowingly, that is) or not having repented of some sin(struggling to overcome it at the time, possibly).

Is there a flaw in my logic?

Btw, ironic that I posted this in the spam thread.

Immortality here always scared me more than death. I guess I'm pessimistic.

If you were immortal here on earth, it would have to last forever... or I suppose you'd just float off into space or something.

Now if you were a humanist(hypothetically speaking), immortality would be pretty much godhood.

I don't much think that I would like to live forever on this earth. More than 60-70 (usable) years might be ok, but not living forever.

And Lazarus, that's a good question to ask, but I think that you've answered it pretty well. Would God hold back the unsaved from entering heaven? Probably, but He would not likely hold back the saved because of an un-confessed sin. Baptism totally is not necessary for salvation as it's a representation of salvation not salvation itself.

Besides, anyone who worries about these things is usually in a good way as it shows concern for being right with God. Just don't get caught up in legalism as the means to heaven or salvation/grace. The laws are meant to guide behavior, but not to save men.

Have I ever pointed out that when I say "men" or "man" I am referring to humankind in the same way that so many people did before such was considered politically incorrect and/or sexist unless explicitly stated otherwise?

Have I pointed out that my supposed wisdom is most often an echo of what many of you already know to be true?

Have I pointed out that I've probably had over a hundred posts in the last week?

By the way, welcome back to the forums!

Now you have. I don't find the use of "men" to refer to humanity offensive. But now, I think I'll go back to Morrowind and hunt down some new equipment.

"Men can be such slobs."
"Man is a subtle creature sometimes"
"Man, you really tick me off sometimes"
"Men have always known that..."

It all depends on the context, imo.
Sentence one is referring to the male.
Sentence two is referring to humanity.
Sentence three is using Man as a title for a single person. S
entence four is referring to a collective "Men" as in all of humanity.

Hope you find some good equipment, SigInt. Image

Okay, I'll shut up now.

I found a really nice lockpick-out of the budget though. :( Have to find a cheaper one somewhere. These people are terrible at guarding their equipment.
