According to the resident former Marine...if someone is wounded, you need several men to remove him from the field, patch him up, etc. Plus you need to bring medical supplies in.

If he's dead, you take his ammo and dog tags and shoot the hostiles.

there is less honor taking a guys ammo and tags...

I was talking about the logistics of such things. Logistically, a wounded soldier would require more resources than a dead one.

And yes, that's exactly what he'd do.
