..........................So I guess SA3 (if it's the truth) will be awesome. IT has to be, right?

It may. If you have high expectations and it disappoints you.

I try not to get too hyped up for any games before I at least get a chance to play it.

That is true. Gotta wonder, though.

The only thing I can see SA3 bringing to the table that hasn't been done in a while, is Sonic Adventure's slower gameplay. I would actually like to see that. More spin dash (in 3D) and less boosting!

Why can't there be a spin dash and a boost feature? Or even a combination?

Well its not impossible for them to be together. But to me, their basic designs don't mesh well. I think for every game design benefit there should be a cost to balance it out.

For boosting, you get super fast speeds and the cost is collecting rings. But as long as you are in an area with plenty of rings, the cost is negligible and I feel the player gets spoiled with fast speed. For the spin dash, you go really fast, but you have to stop and build up speed. So you don't get to spam it all of the time.

I think being Super Sonic should be the only time you get the boost. That way, you don't get it all the time, which makes it more rewarding, in my opinion.

Well, why not let there be certain areas where you can only do certain things? You know, mix it up a little? That not only keeps the speed factor, but it keeps it interesting.

Moreover, you said that the Spin Dash and boost couldn't possibly be together. I disagree. I have come up with a solution:

You remember the drift controls in Sonic Generations (assuming you use a gamepad, just picture the L2 and R2 buttons on a PS3 controller). Those allow you to make tight turns with ease, right? Let's imagine that if you hold both drift buttons down you can charge up your Spin Dash and when you release them you perform the Spin Dash. Even better- while your charging your Spin Dash, if you hold the Boost button you can add some major torque to it. This can be used so that certain areas of a level can only be accessed using the Spin Dash, and that this, as well as Boost, have separate qualities that must be utilized at certain points of the game, even if the work well, together.

Well, what do you think?

There's no point if there is already a boost ability that does the exact same thing, except it's instant and has a gauge.

Except that the Spin Dash uses the gauge, too. And it helps the player to be more conservative. Just trying to come up with a solution.

The boost already beats the spin dash, since it works instantly.

They can always replace the boost, I suppose.

OOOooooorrrrr......maybe the Boost gauge can only be filled by performing Spin Dashes. Strategic and fast-paced. See? Everything works out............that doesn't work, does it? :(

Heh, probably not because rings seem to already do a good job.

Spin dash should stay in 2D Sonic's though
