Eh...that's happened before even without Facebookery. But my cousin's recently got one (each) and are trying to convince me to join the undead.

How do you know you're a caffeine addict? O_o

When you stay up really late (Or early, depending on how you perceive time) and get up really late.

Or, if it has no effect on you.

An 1832 print of 1001 Arabian Nights for what, shipped, is equivalent to about $140 or so?

Pretty much XD.

Okaaaayyyy. Here we go again.

FL Statute 790.115 Sec 1 reads: A person who exhibits any sword, sword cane, firearm, electric weapon or device, destructive device, or other weapon as defined in s. 790.001(13), including a razor blade, box cutter, or common pocketknife.

Bolding mine.

However, note that this is exhibition, not possession.

Sec 2: A person shall not possess any firearm, electric weapon or device, destructive device, or other weapon as defined in s. 790.001(13), including a razor blade or box cutter, except as authorized in support of school-sanctioned activities, at a school-sponsored event or on the property of any school, school bus, or school bus stop.

Note that it fails to include the common pocketknife as a weapon, unlike the section on exhibition.

As the mentioned 790.001(13) explicitly exempts the common pocketknife as a weapon, and this section does not override the exemption, the common pocketknife is presumably legal to carry on campus.

Thoughts?

FWIW, I'll probably not carry anyway. The mallcops they hire to work security are idiots, so even if I carried a copy of the statutes, they haven't the mental faculties needed to interpret. Welll...maybe a SAK might find it's way into a pocket.

interesting....

...I think it's fine, as long as you don't parade it about. I can get away with one here because A: It's Texas, and B: It's part of my job. :P

It also seems that having swords and sword-canes is perfectly fine, provided you don't exhibit them.

Yay legal codes. :P

Well, the weapons definition uses the term "other dangerous weapons" or some vague term like that. Pretty sure a sword falls under that.

Zero tolerance is a bull idea?

In most cases, yes.

In the case of stupidity, I think we should take it.

Kinda sucks, but ya gotta do it if you don't want terrible itching.

That itching goes away after a week or so. Less, as you get used to it. Coming from someone who looks like a hobo 90% of the time. :D

Having nerve damage (AKA: a severely painful ache in my back, legs, and numbness) from sitting in a torture device (AKA: movie theater chair) for three hours?

As long as the movie was worth it.

Like if it were The Godfather or The Lord of the Rings, definitely worth it.
