Finding people who like to play the music I do and are willing to put effort into practicing are few and far between here.

Go solo. There's software that can stand in for drums, keyboardage, ETC. It's not as good, but it'll work until you hit college and find some weird guy with a beard to band up with you.

Recording software is for teh cheaps, but guitar recording implements are like $40 at the cheapest. -_- And that's just a cable, not a preamp.
