How does the multiplayer server work?

We are still working on our 15 posts so we can be whitelisted. My son has a question:

Am I able to play on a computer generated map with my sister on survival or are there people always around us?

The kids are wanting to set up homes near each other, starting out with nothing, and build a home.

on multiplayer everyone shares the same map that's stored on the server. It's both a blessing and a curse. Fun to see everyone's creations but easy to accidentally destroy them too

Yes, there are a lot of shops to buy, sell and trade at. If you guys want to build in a spot without a lot of traffic than you will have to walk out side the city and find a nice quiet spot.

First of all, welcome to the forums.

Secondly,
I agree with M_Unlimited. If you want a good spot to settle, I can help you all find one that is more secluded from the rest if that is your wish. You could STILL visit the shops and such by typing a simple command: /warp spawn

You can set up your own private warp to your new spot by typing the following without the brackets: /warp pcreate [name your warp]

Thirdly,
It is also important to make sure that you are not sharing the same account. The two of you will not be able to play on the same account at the same time. You both will have to have separately purchased your own copy. I believe you have done so??

Fourthly,
The basic rules are as such:

Don't steal.

Don't pour water/lava on anyone's area of building.

Don't destroy or take blocks from another person's structure.

Do not swear, or call others a disrespectful name. No matter how 'hurt' you may feel, this is only a game... please remember this, and also that we strive to represent a kind, and respectful environment for all to play therein.

Don't build in the same area as someone else. There is a GREAT chance that it will be taken down quickly, and you will lose your work. If you suspect you are close to someone's structure, please ask that person (whose structure you are close to) if it is ok to build in that vacinity. If there is no problems, then proceed to build there with caution. Sometimes you get the ok to build in a vacinity, but then they realize how BIG you want your structure to be afterwards, and feelings are stirred. It is best to build where there is NOBODY in the vacinity, or else there is a clearly defined area in which you may build.

Don't argue with OPs, as it never ends well for you. We don't expect a lot from the players on the server, but respect is something that we expect everyone to portray to everyone... including, but not limited to OPs (Operators of the server).

How many posts so far? Yes there are shops. Actually, I own a shop that sells potions and enchantments and I also build automated farms.

There are more than just shops there are multiple business types, I myself have made a place that adds extra features to people's houses.
