I'm still not fully on board with giving up on fixing it, but the way things are being phrased it sounds like the decision's been made and this poll and thread are just a formality.

What I really want here is some kind of action plan to prevent this happening again. Like I Said before, we went from an approach of keeping the mods to a minimum, to adding a new mod every couple of weeks. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be very reluctant to invest time in projects if there's a good chance we'll be back in this same position 6 months from now. We had too many mods before, and we have too many now.

Haven't we been adding plugins not mods?

And if we restart the map, we need to make a new rule of no glitching! That's how this all started. :(
On other servers I've seen, you get banned immediately for exploiting duplication bugs. Possible implementation here?

Here's a list of our mods:

mcbans 3.7.1, Curseban 2.4.0, CreeperHeal 4.11, Lockette 1.5, MCBouncer 1.1beta, ColorMe 3.4.1, WorldEdit 5.3, MyWarp 2.2, WorldGuard 5.5.2, AutoRepair 1.83.3, HawkEye 1.0.7b, PluginControl 1.2.4 RC

I'd say that most of them are vital and the only optional one is Colorme. The WorldEdit is part of WorldGuard which seems to offer nice features.
I agree, update and restart first. Also, I think all of those are pretty vital. ColorMe is fun, and I didn't notice any problems after we installed it until now.

If we have to restart the server, rather than putting stuff in the castles, why don't we create a giant warehouse with color-coded wool floors, multiple levels, etc. near spawn for people to put stuff in. Signs can be provided. Then we can just move that. Might be easier. Make it pretty, and we could leave it on the server for extra storage space.

I'm with Arctic here, I just wonder if starting anew is the best permanent solution. I understand that mods/pluggins installing/uninstalling may have corrupt some data, but can that really explain this recent surge in lag with much certainty? I don't understand how the software works, but I thought the world data is separate from the executive code. Why can't we just reinstall the executive code and paste in the world data?

Also, I guess I'm used to the lag on my puter since I've got limited processing power on my laptop and have DSL internet. I've just been using normal or short render distance. Even then, when I walk through areas like spawn and new town it's choppy as a bad surfing day in the gulf.

That would only be a good idea IF we didn't spend half a year building amazing amazing-ness.
Some of us used all are items when building, so that idea works for players that has nothing but items, but guys like me have hardly anything except are amazing city castles islands and resorts.

I updated bukkit and restarted the server...since the lab warp was removed I'm not sure if the problem still exists...

I'd rather not restart the world. I have a lot of time and work invested in it and I know that a lot of other people do to. Is there not another way to fix the problem without restarting the world?
