Why does Minecraft only use square cubes ?????

Just thinking aloud, why does Minecraft only use square cubes, why can’t they have hexagons, cylinders, cones and other shapes.

I think it'd be trickier to animate. Not to mention up the polygon count to a level that'd make it more labor intensive on your machine.

I think the should at least have a triangle for pyramids and stuff

I like just having cubes but I think some mods let you use triangles.

I think having every thing a cube gives Minecraft a certain atmosphere.

You will just have to downgrade your Minecraft Jar to 1.0 till it updates again.

just my opinion but:
1. would up the poly count
2. would look out of place
3. the squareness of the world is part of the atmosphere
4. there are already mods for this

but it would be kind of neat if there were

If you consider Minecraft is like LEGO and LEGO has variations of different shapes and sizes. That gives it the flexibility to be more innovative.

Yes, but not all squares are cubes. And if you can only see three sides at any given time, how do you know the other sides still exist? O_o
