NEW RELEASE: Role Play Mod??

What would you guys think of a role playing mod being implemented on this server once the new map arrives with the game release??

I have seen some good ones out there, but have not done extensive research on this yet. Does anyone know of any good RPG mods out there? Is anyone even interested in this??

Personally, I would LOVE to see this implemented (to reward hard work and diligence to those who actually do their work legitimately).
For Example:
The server I was on before had one that unlocks all the different tools after a certain amount of using them. The same applied for armour and other objects.

Sounds cool, but I would like more info on how it would work.
But I love the idea of stats grinding. :D

When you RPG mod do you mean your looking for an leveling system?
Maybe even an shop system.

I have tried a leveling mod, but it's pretty easy to level up, and to get over powered.
(It works like this, you mine ore, or fight mobs to get XP, when you level you get three point's to level up any stats.)
(Thus you can level up one thing, even if you never did it to level... :| )

But if we found a leveling system were you level up mining stats for mining, and swimming for swimming, and power for fighting,
This would be very cool.

I have been testing out mods lately,
if you want you can give me a link to a RPG mod you found thats cool, I will try it out. :mrgreen:

I'd want one but as an OP i'd still like to have the option to have normal creative and such because Ima rebuild wampaville.

I love that you want to re-make Wampaville! I believe we will still have Creative mode on as OP's. However, having said that, I would hope that no Creative-made structures would be made in proximity to other projects not using it.

Having said that, it is my opinion that Jerusalem be put into the new map at a later time period. This will give me the time to complete its walls and Terrain using MCEdit. I can't see us working on the walls alone for the next 2 - 3 months, when all of this can be done in 2 - 3 nights with MCEdit. The walls are just too boring to build by hand, and everyone helping would HAVE to have Creative to help... something I'm trying VERY hard to curve the need for with this new map.

As a result, to make things easier for the future, I will keep the area surrounding the initial spawn area as the place where Jerusalem will go. So, in essence - the 2000x2000 block area all around this initial spawn will not be built upon by anyone. I will put up a fence/markers all over the edge of this area so that people know where that point is. (It'll probably just be a glowstone wall 1 block high)

By making the area around initial spawn as the area where Jerusalem will go, we can still keep our original rules as to what is to be built North, South, East, and West of that border; as well as their proximity to that border.

I found one called McMMO, and it runs on Bukkit too.

the one thing that makes me hesitant is stats grinding. The thing I like about Minecraft is it's something I don't have to meddle with any leveling.

The REAL reason I would play a RPG Mod on here is merely to feel as though I developed my character and accomplished great deeds when I build. Any Joe can build things... as we have seen with the massive structures built by Creative. However, working together to build communities, and helping each other with those builds because they really ARE an accomplishment... well, I think that's a great goal in a Minecraft Community.

I know that in the back of our minds is this:
"Yeah, but think what we could build in much less time!" To that, I would say "to what end?"

Do we build structures for recognition? Or do we really want to build friendships as well?

I've played many servers with NO OP commands/creative mod. I remember feeling as though I really did accomplish something when I built the Temple on that server. People were thinking that I was crazy when they saw how big it had to be, but still... I gained some good friends while looking for gold.. mining for stone. And, a lot of those people helped me out with the INSANE amount of wool that I needed. I think back now, and say "THAT was playing minecraft." Sure there was some digging involved, and not all of it was fun fun fun, but at least with a RPG mod, we have even more goals/accomplishment to look forward to.

Anyhow.. that's just my 2 cents worth. What do you think?

I do think we need a bit of community.


I think we should have group goals, too.

For example, we all need little shelters so we don't die every single night. That's step one :P Next, we set up community resources like cobblestone generators and farms and start setting up goals like "build a town center" and "build a wall around our settlement." While we obviously can't and shouldn't stop people from doing their own thing, we could have challenges and goals for the group.


I s'pose with that in mind, an RPG mod seems pretty cool.

Oh, I also found this mod, it makes it so you can make custom paintings, write in books, and play music. :mrgreen:
