Minecraft Server 3.0 (hopefully the last one)

I have the new server set up with the following mods

Bukkit, Whitelist, lockette, CreeperHeal, No Endermen Grief and Private Warp

Here's my todo list:

Double check to see if I missed essential required plugins
Backup and make the previous worlds downloadable
Fix the backup script to have a rotation

basically it's keeping two weeks worth of backups. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't want the day/night mod I feel like its day all the time.

The admins can still /time set 0 regardless.

However, we can put up another vote about not using time commands if you'd like.

No its ok if admins do it but when every person can do it you don't have a chance to do stuff at night.

I'd prefer not using the time commands at all. Night is part of survival, and I've heard that the /time set commands mess up some redstone functions anyway. But that's just my opinion.

My personal opinion on this is that there seems to be an overwhelming wish for most people to play in a day-only environment. I believe that this is simply because of the fact that there is nothing that you need to do at night that a little cave-tromping won't fix, with only one exception - to sleep in your bed so as to make a new spawn area for yourself... and make it day again. There are plenty of mobs in the caves as far as I'm concerned anyways.

I'm not saying it has to be a day-only server, I'm just noting my personal preference, and the fact that I see the "can you make it day again please" SOOOoooo often, that it leads me to believe that this is the concensis of most players in-game. I could be wrong.

Just my 2 cents worth.

What do you guys think about this??

I don't really have a problem with it being day (with the few exceptions you mention. Personally, I think having night adds a bit of challenge because you have to plan your moves, and it adds to the survival aspect of the game. Now, I realize I'm probably in the minority on this, and I don't have a problem with people switching it to day as needed. My only issue is that I've read that the time commands can mess up redstone repeaters, but I could be wrong about that one.

I like night it adds a challenge to survival, but i find myself making it day automatically whenever the sun sets due to people constantly telling me to make it day.

I like the option to turn it day or night, I think Notch made day too short, it does not give you much time to build or explore.I hope Jeb fixes this but i'm not counting on it. Or is there a mod to make day longer?

Making it always day feels like /easymode to me. Seems like if you're going to cut down the challenge then just make it a creative server and be done with it.
