GeoGuessr

Postby ArchAngel » Tue May 21, 2013 12:56 pm

Some of you might already have known about GeoGuessr, but I just found it and thought I'd share it. GeoGuessr drops you in a random location somewhere int he world and by moving around in StreetView, you have to find out where you are.

But, I wanted to do a little more, I want to see how well we do pitted against each other.
My score might not be amazing, but who cares to challenge me?

That one you were like within a couple miles of smoked me Arch. Otherwise I held you neck and neck.

Yeah, I'm pretty proud of that one. A third of a kilometer is pretty good. I'd be able to request a helicopter pick up from there.

Good game!

Hmmm, if enough people get interested, we should do brackets. See who's the ultimate geoguessr.

We'd need to agree on a set of rules but I'd be in.

One thing I noticed is how it tends to like sticking me on some backroad with no street signs or houses. My botany is too rusty to determine location based on trees.

As for rules, I'm fine for allowing google searches. It makes the game a little more strategic. I don't expect everyone to be experts in global flora. I certainly am not.

Nicely played, Deep.

Here's the score.
Not to brag, but I got locations within 6.5, 20, and 141 ft.
that gave me 24k points, my top score so far.

I'm scared to try this for fear of utter incompetence.

Nah, give it a whirl! It's fun. Even if you don't score high, it's still worth it. Besides, I think you'll start finding clues to look for, and researching them online. At worst, you get to see many places around the world.

Didn't manage to beat anyone's challenges, but here's the best game I've done so far.

Well played... I guess that gives you the highest overall score to beat so far.

Edit: Here's a game I found to be kind of tricky... It drops you onto highways in the middle of nowhere, into places filled with Cyrillic writing, and in the last one you're not even able to move. My overall score might not be very high, but just try to beat my score on the first round/place. ;)
