I think my favorite verse is Proverbs 1:19 my translation says: Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life.

I think that verse hits the nail on the head

This is just a random note: Proverbs has 31 chapters, so my dad likes to read one every day of the month!

10. Proverbs 2:4 - How should we seek and search for wisdom? like silver and hidden treasure
11. Proverbs 2:5 - What shall the wise understand and find? fear of the Lord and knowledge of God
12. Proverbs 2:6 - Who gives wisdom, knowledge and understanding? the Lord
13. Proverbs 2:7 - “He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.”
14. Proverbs 2:8 - “He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserves the way of his saints.”
15. Proverbs 2:10-11 - What preserves and keeps the wise? discretion and understanding

My favorite verse in this chapter is 2:12 Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted.

I hate catching people in a lie and those who are selfish and trying to smooth talk their way out of things. I'm thankful for wisdom and discretion to see through their lies.

1) Search for wisdom as though looking for a hidden treasure.

2) Finding wisdom will allow the finders to understand the fear of the Lord, and find God’s knowledge.

3) The Lord.

4) “...He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly”

5) “He keepeth the paths of Judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

6) When you have wisdom, and find knowledge pleasant to the soul, then discretion will preserve you.

Favorite verse: If thou seekest her as silver, and searches for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2: 4-5.

Mostly becasue I need a reminder that wisdom isn't easy to find, that it won't simply come to me as I drink coffee one morning. I need to find it, search as for hidden treasure.

Did it seem as though verse 10 listed requirements for the rest of the chapter?

I think it summed up the beginning of the chapter quite nicely but the end went into discussing wickedness and righteousness. I love this book :)

Aye. :D Besides the fact it's written beautifully, it's also extremely practical. Which is saying something considering how long ago it was written.

18. Proverbs 3:3-4 - What two characteristics are needed to have favor with God and man? mercy and truth
19. Proverbs 3:5 - “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
20. Proverbs 3:6 - “In all thy way acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
21. Proverbs 3:7 - “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
22. Proverbs 3:9 - How can the wise honor the Lord? wealth and first fruits

24. Proverbs 3:27 - What should the wise not withhold when it is within his power? good
25. Proverbs 3:34 - To whom does the Lord give grace? the lowly

This is my favorite verse in the chapter: Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I'm usually a problem solver and try to fix things on my own...I often come to God last when I should be coming to him FIRST. He never lets m down but I never seem to learn :\

1) My son, forget not my law...

2) Length of days, long life and peace will be the return.

3) Mercy and truth.

4) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

5) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

6) Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD and depart from evil.

7) With of your substance and your firstfruits.

8) Happiness.

9) If it is in your power to give it, don’t hold back Good.

10) The lowly.

Favorite verse[s]: 3: 5-7: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD and depart from evil.

Because many times, I want to forge my own way, and ignore what God has said. I want to do what I think is right and give God no thought until afterwards. I should let God guide me.

Hmm...seems our favorite verses were similar. :D

3. Proverbs 4:6-8 - What are the benefits of embracing wisdom? preserve and keep you, honor and understanding

I think wisdom and understanding are awesome gifts to have, I think of King Solomon and all the wisdom that he had and shared.
